Wanderlust … April 9, 2008
I’ve been approached by a friend to help her edit and publish a collection of photo stories and articles of her travels across South America and Africa. She sets off in June. By air to South America, then overland across it, down to the US, by sea to London, then to Egypt, and overland back to SA. The Amazon. Rio. Columbia. Kenya. Tanzania. The Serengeti. Kilimanjaro. Zambia. An eighteen month trip.
All she is taking with her is the bare essentials, her lap top, camera, passport and traveller’s cheques. No five star lodges and air-conditioned travel. This is as she puts it, a voyage of personal discovery - on the bones of her backside on a shoestring budget.
She’s asked me to set up a website for her, to document this trip, as well as to help her edit all of the articles as she completes them, including re-writes through to publication. For this she has offered to pay me a whopping pile of moolah [confirmed] and the chance to join her somewhere on the African leg of the journey - [still to be decided].
How awesome is this not?
