Tell me about a time when ….. April 15, 2008
So.
I dusted off the old CV last week Friday, updated it a bit, and posted if off into cyberspace.
More out of boredom and sheer gatvol-ness you understand, rather then any real desire to leave my current employer. Testing the waters, so to speak. I wasn’t even sure if I’d actually bother with interviews should these arise – more a “what’s out there, is my experience still relevant, could I still get a job” thing.
Well.
Apparently the answer to those questions are “lots”, “yes” and “yes”.
Three responses to date, two of which I have “File 13-ed” as not worth the paper they’re written on, and a third, for which I have a first interview on Thursday morning. Not much different to what I am doing at the moment, but with a sizeable upswing in pay. An extra 5K a month is always welcome. Copenhagen calls, you know.
That said, I hate interviews. I’m a writer, ok, not a talker. I’m surprised anyone has ever hired me, based on the interviews I’ve given. Babbling comes to mind.
Feck.
Wish me luck.

what the fucking fuck. I’m desperate and have received nada!
Good luck. when you feel yourself babbling, bite your tongue!
Shebee: not finding anything when you’re desperate is the Murphy’s law of job hunting. When you’re employed and are just looking around, opportunities pop up all over the place. I know this. I went through the same shit when I moved from JHB to Cape Town three and a half years ago. I hunted for three fecking months before something cropped up. The minute I accepted it jobs popped out of the woodwork. Including the one I’m currently doing. Murphy is a bastard I tell you.
Good luck with the interviews!
When I moved down here I was also intensely job hunting for almost a month and a half before I found the one I’m doing now - and since then I’ve had to turn down three other offers over the phone. Go figure…
I’m sure you’ll do just fine.
Louisa: Am actually pretty relaxed about the whole thing - after all, if I should fluff the interview and don’t get the job, it hardly matters - this being a fishing expedition, after all. [Murphy's Law dicates almost certain success ;)] Crunch time will come if they actually do offer me the job - some tough decisions will have to be made at that point . Will adopt a wait-and-see attitude.
[...] The only good things to come out of all this, was the phone call at 15:45 asking me to come in for a second interview. [...]
