What’s your literary deal breaker? April 29, 2008

Filed under: Bits 'n bobs, Pet hates — Parenthesis @ 4:50 pm

A darn good question.

Mine would have to include anything written by Paul Coelho, Dan Brown,  JK Rowling, Stephen King, Penny Vincenzi, Danielle Steele and Louis L’Amour.

Hee hee.

Anyone else care to venture an answer?

Dean Koontz, Dan Brown, Stephen King, aye!

I would have to definitely agree with Danielle Steele - that’s too funny…

what a great question - I’ll have to ponder that one and maybe can come up with a few more. I don’t know though - I hate to admit - I don’t know if I’ve read enough to really do so!

oi fok. That’s half my library (although, I too draw the line at Steel).

What the fuck is wrong with Louis L’Amour? The lone cowboy. His steely eyes. His calloused hands. A girl can dream.

    *pout*

oi, what did ole Stephen ever do to you?

Have to agree with almost all the others although not Dan Brown for obvious reasons :)

You forgot to add the ‘Mills and Boon’ gems. Yegh, literary sewrage.

happytheclam: oh Stephen’s not that bad, I have read a number of his books, slipped that in to see what reaction I would get. Bit like Koontz :) As to Dan Brown - what reasons are those? Aside from the fact that his plots are weak, his characters flat and undeveloped, and the overall style of his books mechanistic and two dimensional? Im not pissing on the themes of his books you understand, I like a good conspiracy theory as much as the next person, it’s just that they are just so BADLY written. Bit like James Patterson, really ;)
